After Queen Rania of Jordan and Naomi Watts both stepped out in black culottes last week, I found myself forced once again to reconsider the hard-to-wear pant.
As a shorter woman of the 5’4” variety, I find that culottes cut me off at a weird point, and only make me look shorter. And so I’ve avoided them at all costs. But they look soooo good in street style photos and pap pics of celebs!
I liken them to my having bangs – seemingly a good idea at the time, but when I look back at pictures, cowlick and all, I wonder, “what was I thinking?!”
I think I’m just going to have to chalk culottes up to the same fate as my beloved harem pants – fabulous on others, but not for my body type.
